Homeless Teen, Hollywood, CA 1996
Punk-looking teens used to be a common sight on Hollywood Blvd, which over the years had become a bit run-down and seedy. Around 1999, the city took a cue from New York's Rudy Giuliani and cleaned up the street and ran the kids, who routinely panhandled the tourists, out. Today, Hollywood Blvd is safe, clean, and boring. Back in the days, I got this portrait of this disenfranchised teen who was sick and needed money for medicine. I gave her several dollars.
